A Monumental Occasion: The Annual Lighting of Baltimore’s Washington Monument. Don’t miss the 41st annual lighting of Baltimore’s Washington Monument in Mount Vernon. Baltimore Menorah Lighting. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and other dignitaries will be on hand to light the Baltimore Menorah. Attendees can enjoy latkes and hot drinks, a choir performance, and a show with acrobatic stunts. 5 p.m., Dec. 9, Pratt and Light streets, free.

Chanukah House. Over-the-top light displays are not the sole domain of Christmas. Head to this house for a big, blinking tribute to the holiday of eight crazy nights. Through December, 6721 Greenspring Ave., thechanukahhouse.com, free.

Little Italy Tree Lighting. Before the big tree lighting, enjoy complimentary fresh roasted chestnuts, hot apple cider, and cookies. Miracle on 34th Street. One of Baltimore’s favorite blocks is decked out in Christmas lights and holiday cheer. It all ends with a ball drop and the running of Baby New Year on New Year’s Eve. Through Dec. 31, 6-11 p.m., 34th Street between Kewsick Road and Chestunut Avenue, christmasstreet.com.

Power Plant Holiday Light Show Spectacular. Historic Power Plant serves as the backdrop for a dazzling light show of lights, lasers, and music. 6, 7, 8 and 9 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 22 and every day from Dec. 26-30, hourly shows from 6-11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
