This week, City Paper brings you How to the Survive the Holidays, Part 2: Get Out and Celebrate!

By now, you are probably fully submerged in the Holiday Season. You’ve likely done a lot of your requisite shopping—hopefully our Gift Guide helped you with that. You’ve probably got a tree, if that’s your thing. You’ve taken your menorah out of the closet, maybe looked up Kwanzaa on Wikipedia to remind yourself what that’s all about.

It’s starting to get to you, isn’t it?

You’ve heard Run DMC’s “Christmas in Hollis” one too many times. You’ve already spent a lot of money. Gift wrapping sucks. There’s that one uncle/cousin/brother/grandmother you’re kinda dreading seeing at the family get-together. And how do you tip the garbage collectors, again?

City Paper is here to help. It’s time to get away from all the holiday stress and get to the good stuff. In this week’s survival guide, we’ve got a list of 10 Can’t-Miss Happenings guaranteed to put you in the good holiday place. There’s also complete listings of shopping, kid’s stuff, Nutcracking, A Christmas Carol, and other seasonal shows, open houses and tours, helping others, traditions, music, New Year’s Eve, and mistle-aneous stuff to do between between now and the end of the year.

Don’t miss our interview with Richard Ku, owner of Pikesville’s Mr Chan’s, who talks about the Jewish obsession with eating Chinese food on Christmas, or Jim Meyer’s complete guide to all the New Year’s Eve options at your disposal this year.

The Holiday Season can be tough—but with the proper guidance from your local alternative weekly, you can make it through, have some fun, and live to see 2013.
