Green Onion Market

Big Bad Wolf’s House of BarbeQue

5713 Harford Road, (410) 444-6422

$, L, D, Out

Barbecue doesn’t have to be rocket science, and this carryout keeps things simple with its menu of meats, seven sauces, and sides. But everything is pretty tasty, so it’s not like picking a particular combination will be easy. For a little local flavor, try the Eastern Shore chicken.

Clementine

5402 Harford Road, (410) 444-1497, bmoreclementine.com

$$$, B, L, D, BR, P

Hamilton's farm-to-table anchor has won legions of fans with friendly service and eclectic, rustic food from breakfast and brunch (paprika catfish and grits) to dinner (Whistle Pig hollow grilled pork chop). Also, with a large play area full of books and toys, it's one of the most kid-friendly spots in town, in any price range.

Green Onion Market

5500 Harford Road, (410) 444-1718, greenonionmarket.net

$, L, D, P

The menu at this deli isn’t too big, but the fresh ingredients, which are also sold at the counter, make for tasty salads and sandwiches. Closed Mondays.

Hamilton Tavern

5517 Harford Road, (410) 426-1930, hamiltontavern.com

$$, D, Out

In its four-year existence, Hamilton Tavern has won us over with its crosstown burger, which features Roseda beef, bacon, an optional fried egg, horseradish cheddar, and iceberg lettuce. Its cozy space makes it feel more like a welcoming bar than a big restaurant. We’re sold.

Koco’s Pub

4301 Harford Road, (410) 426-3519, kocospub.com

$$, L, D

Koco’s is a neighborhood institution, and not just because it has been around for so long. The pub food always delivers, but it is the massive crab cake, filled with jumbo lump meat, that ranks among the best in the city and keeps bringing customers back.

Los Amigos

5506 Harford Road, (410) 444-4220, losamigosbaltimore.com

$$, L, D, Out

Offering an authentic Mexican menu that goes beyond the standard combo-plate fare, Los Amigos has tacos, fajitas, and burritos in abundance, sure, but also premium dishes such as mole ranchero and fried poblano. And hey, there’s a menu just for vegetarians.

Maggie’s Farm

4341 Harford Road, (410) 254-2376, maggiesfarmmd.com

$$$, D, BR, P, R

Retaining the mantle of farm-to-table from previous occupant Chameleon Café, Maggie’s Farm has a small menu of rustic dishes that boast seasonal ingredients, but all are executed quite well.

Tooloulou

4311 Harford Road, (443) 627-8090, tooloulou.com.

$$, L, D, BYOB

“Tooloulou” is Cajun for crab, and the menu at this spot appropriately features flavors from both Lake Pontchartrain and the Chesapeake Bay among its gourmet pizza and po’boy offerings.
