Nobody was killed in Baltimore for seven days in a row before two murders in a single day broke the streak. There were several non-fatal shootings and stabbings during the lull.
Saturday, Jan. 25
12:59 a.m. Kendrick Andrew Martin, a 41-year-old African-American man, was standing outside near the intersection of Penrose Avenue and North Payson Street when he got into an argument with two other men. At least one of those men stabbed Martin multiple times. Medics took Martin to a hospital, where he died.
11:34 p.m. Less than 24 hours later, Lavar Crawford, a 16-year-old African-American boy, was on the 1900 block of East 28th Street when someone shot him in the head. Northeastern District police responded to a call for a shooting at Hugo Avenue and Harford Road and found him. He was pronounced dead at 11:53 p.m.
The man killed on Jan. 12 on the 3600 block of Reisterstown Road has been identified as Dalontae Harper, a 20-year-old African-American man.
