Murders this Week: 3; Murders this Year: 234
Published: January 1, 2014
Three homicide victims from earlier in December whose names were not previously released have been identified. All three—36-year-old Anthony McMillian, who was killed on Dec. 20 in the 1200 block of North Luzerne Avenue; 56-year-old John Achiampong, who was killed on Dec. 21 in the 2400 block of Maisel Court; and 37-year-old Eli Barber-El, who was killed on Dec. 22 in the 300 block of Park Avenue—were shot to death.
Flora Alfred, 64, a woman who suffered severe burns in a Park Heights house fire on Dec. 16, died shortly before Christmas. The fire was ruled an arson, and thus Alfred’s death is expected to be deemed a homicide. A suspect—26-year-old Jordan Grimes—has already been charged with numerous counts of attempted murder as a result of the incident, and media reports indicate that a murder count against him soon will be added as a result of the woman’s death.
