Murders this Week: 5; Murders this Year: 150

Four people were shot in a house, two fatally. Seven people were shot at a West Baltimore dice game, including a 15-year-old boy who died, as the violence continued.

Tuesday, Aug. 20

5:47 a.m. Meghan Kerrigan, a 22-year-old Caucasian woman, and William Monroe, a 21-year-old Caucasian man, were in a house on the 1200 block of South Carey Street with two other women and an infant when a man came inside and shot everyone except the baby. Kerrigan, who court records indicate lived in Halethorpe, and Monroe, who lived on the block but previously used a Halethorpe address, died. The Sun reported that police caught 35-year-old Melville Mason climbing out a window.

Friday, Aug. 23

10:53 p.m. Matthew Wood, a 21-year-old African-American man, was near his home on the 3100 block of Brendan Avenue in the Belair-Edison neighborhood when someone shot him in the head. He died in a hospital soon after.

Saturday, Aug. 24

9:15 p.m. Deshaun Jones, a 15-year-old African-American boy and aspiring rapper, was at a dice game on the 1500 block of West Fayette Street in the Franklin Square neighborhood when someone opened fire, hitting seven people. Jones was shot in the head and died.

Sunday, Aug. 25

4:02 p.m. Officers responded to the 4000 block of Norfolk Avenue for a report of a shooting. Police found 27-year-old Brandon Darrell Thompson, an African-American man, shot multiple times. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
