Murders this Week: 3; Murders this Year: 120

The last time Murder Ink reported on only three homicides in a week was May 29, and since then, including this week’s tally, there have been 38 of them—an average of more than six each week.
Tuesday, July 2
Just before 5 p.m., a report of a shooting brought police to the 4200 block of Pimlico Road in the Lower Park Heights neighborhood, where they found 26-year-old Davon Ockimey, an African-American from Rosemont Park, with one or more gunshot wounds to his chest. Ockimey was pronounced dead less than half-an-hour after his arrival at an area hospital.
Friday, July 5
When police arrived in the 700 block of East Preston Street in the Johnston Square neighborhood after a shooting occurred at 1:50 a.m., they found two African-American men suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Both were transported to area hospitals and, while one was listed in critical condition, the other was pronounced dead at 2:21 a.m. Police have not yet released the victims’ names.
At 3 p.m., according to media reports, Lakeisha Vannison was shot in her Heritage Crossing home in the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, the victim of an apparent domestic dispute with her boyfriend, 29-year-old Samad Pittman, who’s been charged with murder.
The two men shot to death around 1 a.m. on June 27 in the 1800 block of Poplar Grove Street in West Baltimore have been identified as 23-year-old Corey Gibson and 33-year-old Andre Cox, according to media reports.
Police have charged Tierra Fallin, a 29-year-old African-American woman, with the June 27 murder of 21-year-old Gennie Shird on Elmora Avenue in East Baltimore’s Four by Four neighborhood.
