Tuesday, Oct. 30

Anthony Diggs, a 29-year-old African-American man, died more than 11 years after he was shot. On March 17, 2001, at 5:08 P.M., Diggs, who was 18 at the time, arrived at a city hospital with a gunshot wound to his torso. He told police that he was in a parked car near the intersection of East Monument Street and North Lakewood Avenue when he was approached by someone. He got into an argument with that person and the person pulled out a handgun and started shooting at the car. Diggs was hit but managed to get away. Diggs was left paralyzed by the shooting. Diggs’ death on Oct. 30 of this year was ruled a homicide due to complications from the 2001 shooting. According to The Baltimore Sun, Diggs was in a western Maryland prison at the time of his death. Diggs was convicted of armed robbery and handgun charges on Oct. 7, 2009, for a his involvement in a robbery on Oct. 15, 2008. According to The Sun, Diggs drove the getaway car, which was equipped for a disabled driver.

5:15 P.M. Michael Allen, a 41-year-old African-American man, allegedly got into an argument with Warrentrez Blount, a 16-year-old African-American male, in the 1100 block of Homewood Avenue. During the argument, Blount allegedly shot Allen in the head. Allen died at an area hospital the next day. Blount was arrested on Nov. 1 and charged with the murder.

Wednesday, Oct. 31

8:16 P.M. On Halloween, William Simmons, a 32-year-old African-American man, was shot in the right side of his body in the 5300 block of Carriage Court. He died at a local hospital less than an hour later. Police allege that Simmons may have been involved in a drug transaction that turned into an attempted robbery and led to his shooting.

10 P.M. Also on Halloween night, Dewey Hampton, a 47-year-old African-American man, was shot in the head in the 6000 block of Marjorie Lane, near the Belvedere Square Shopping Center. He died at an area hospital just before midnight.

Saturday, Nov. 3

2:55 A.M. Erwin Daniels, a 30-year-old African-American man, was found on the front steps of a building in the 600 block of North Lakewood Avenue. He had been shot in the upper body and was dead.

2:30 P.M. That afternoon, Terrence Seal, a 29-year-old African-American man, was shot repeatedly in the upper body inside his home in the 1200 block of Linworth Avenue in New Northwood. He died before he could be taken to a hospital.

Sunday, Nov. 4

6:57 P.M. Some people entered the home of Lawrence Thomas, a 26-year-old Caucasian man, in the 3100 block of Artaban Place near Lake Ashburton. The people pulled out handguns and, according to police, demanded money and drugs. During the home invasion, Thomas was shot in the chest and died.
