The man shot in the 2600 block of Kent Street on Sept. 8 has been identified as Freddie King, a 38-year-old African-American man.
Monday, Sept. 17
10:26 P.M. Peter Marvit, a 51-year-old Caucasian man, parked his car near his home in the 2800 block of Chesterfield Avenue in Belair-Edison. When he got out of his car, he was approached by people who tried to rob him. During the robbery, they shot Marvit numerous times. He died at a city hospital at 11:07 P.M. Marvit is the fifth Caucasian murdered this year.
Tuesday, Sept. 18
6:57 A.M. Police got an anonymous call that a woman’s body could be found in a vacant lot in the 500 block of North Gay Street, by Old Town Mall. When they arrived they found Rasheeda Muhammad, a 26-year-old African-American woman, lying in a dirty vacant lot with a pool of blood around her head. Muhammad had been shot in the head and was dead. She is the 16th biological female murdered this year.
Thursday, Sept. 20
2:10 P.M. In the middle of the afternoon, an off-duty police officer was driving to work in the 1700 block of Presstman Street when he saw a shooting. Audie Mickens, a 24-year-old African-American man, was approached by a person in a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. The person pulled out a gun and started shooting at Mickens. Mickens ran and his attacker chased him. Mickens eventually collapsed and the shooter continued firing on Mickens as he lay on the ground. The officer chased the gunman but lost him in the Gilmor Homes public housing. The officer went back to help Mickens, who was taken to a local hospital, where he died at 3:35 P.M.
Friday, Sept. 21
2 A.M. Nabil Epps, a 34-year-old African-American man, was discovered by his girlfriend sitting on some steps in the 2700 block of West North Avenue, near Coppin State University. He had been stabbed in the chest and died at an area hospital less than an hour later.
Saturday, Sept. 22
Clarence Ross, a 20-year-old African-American man, died at an area hospital six days after he was shot. Ross was at the Crossroad Station bar in the 200 block of South Pulaski Street at 1:45 A.M. on Sept. 16. He was on the second floor with over 100 other patrons when several fights broke out. During the melee he was shot in the head. Evereyone but Ross ran out of the bar, and the shooter and some of the other patrons exchanged fire a block away, but no one else was killed. Ross was taken to a hospital in grave condition and died on the 22nd.
8:40 P.M. Antoine Sellers, a 27-year-old African-American man, was shot repeatedly in the 600 block of Dumbarton Avenue in the Pen Lucy neighborhood. He died at a nearby hospital at 9:30 P.M.
Sunday, Sept. 23
8:55 P.M. Tony Reese, a 36-year-old African-American man, was in the basement of his home in the 2700 block of Mura Street when he was confronted by two armed people. They shot Reese in the head, killing him, and then ran away.
9:15 P.M. Twenty minutes later, an as-yet-unidentified man was shot in the 3000 block of Chesterfield Avenue in Belair-Edison, two blocks from the first murder of the week. The man was shot numerous times and died at a city hospital at 9:43 P.M.
On Sept. 17, Corey Crosby, a 42-year-old African-American man, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the killing of Kevin Jones, a 57-year-old African-American man. Jones and Crosby got into an argument in the 1200 block of West Ostend Street in Pigtown on May 26, 2011, during which Crosby stabbed Jones in the chest.
