The man shot to death in the 4600 block of Norfolk Avenue on June 26 has been identified. He was Lloyd Grant, a 38-year-old African-American man from Brooklyn, N.Y.

Monday, July 16

1:28 A.M. Police were called for a shooting in the 5500 block of Lothian Road in Mid-Govans. Inside a home on the block, they found three people shot. Quintin Winder, a 35-year-old African-American man, and a 50-year-old African-American woman were shot in the head. A 28-year-old African-American man was shot in the face. The 28-year-old man and the woman survived. Winder was pronounced dead at an area hospital at 2:15 A.M.

Tuesday, July 17

1:22 a.m. About 24 hours later, police were called to a shooting in the 900 block of Mayadon Court, in Brooklyn. A blood trail was followed to the 4300 block of Sixth Street, where Darryl Thomas, a 32-year-old African-American man, and a 33-year-old African-American were found shot. The 33-year-old had been shot several times in the lower body but was responsive and able to talk. Thomas was shot in the head and died at a city hospital 30 minutes later.

Despite two multiple shootings resulting in a homicide in two days, as of July 23, there had been five fewer homicides in Baltimore City this year than at the same time in 2011, a year which had the lowest number of recorded homicides since 1977.
