With 19 homicides as of Feb. 20, there have been five fewer homicides in 2012 than at the same time in 2011, a year with record low homicides.

Monday, Feb. 13

5:46 p.m. Jerry Isaac, a 22-year-old African-American man, got into an argument at the Family Dollar in the 2800 block of Greenmount Avenue. During the argument, he was shot repeatedly. He died at a city hospital at 7:12 p.m. The man who shot Isaac fled but has been described by police as an African-American man wearing a black hat, a black coat, and jeans.

Friday, Feb. 17

9 p.m. Police were called for a shooting in the Oliver neighborhood in East Baltimore. A 17-year-old African-American male was found shot several times in the leg in the 1600 block of East Federal Street. Brandon Washington, a 26-year-old African-American man, was found a block away, shot in the chest. The 17-year-old survived. Washington died at a nearby hospital at 10:50 p.m. The actual shooting occurred in the 1600 block of North Bond Street, about a block from where the two victims were found. This is the fourth murder in the Eastern police district this year. The Eastern and Southeastern districts are currently tied as the most murderous in the city with four murders each in the first two months of 2012.

Sunday, Feb. 19

3:08 p.m. Orville Chamblee, a 47-year-old African-American man, got into an argument in the 1300 block of McHenry Street near the Mount Clare Junction shopping center. The argument turned physical, and Chamblee was stabbed in the upper leg. Chamblee was found by police two blocks north in the 100 block of South Calhoun Street. He died at an area hospital less than an hour later.

On Feb. 16, Antonio Taylor, a 32-year-old African-American man, was convicted of murdering Allen Johnson, a 31-year-old African-American man. Johnson was sitting in the driver’s seat of an SUV in the 2400 block of Pickering Drive near the Perring Parkway Shopping Center on Nov. 3, 2009. Taylor got into the passenger seat and shot Johnson six times.
