The fatal shooting in the 2800 block of West Garrison Avenue occurred on Dec. 28, not Dec. 29 as reported in last week’s Murder Ink (Jan. 4). City Paper regrets the error. The victim’s family still has not been notified of his death, so police have not released his name.

The death of Joseph Curtis has been added to the homicide rolls for 2012. Police were called to the 500 block of Brunswick Street at 2:09 a.m. on Sept. 18, 2006, for a body found in the alley. Joseph Curtis, a Caucasian man who was 37 at the time, had been beaten and was bleeding from the head. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. He died four years later on May 28, 2011. On Jan. 3, the Medical Examiner’s office told police that Curtis’ death was a homicide as it was a result of head injuries sustained during the 2006 beating.

Tuesday, Jan. 3

9:45 p.m. Bruce Royster, a 62-year-old African-American man, was discovered in the driver’s seat of a car in the 4000 block of Edgewood Road near Ashburton Elementary School. He had been shot repeatedly and died at a local hospital less than an hour later.

Thursday, Jan. 5

9:08 a.m. Firefighters battling a blaze in the 2600 block of East Biddle Street found Mary Hines, an 84-year-old retired city-school principal, inside her home dead. She had been stabbed to death. At press time, police did not know if the fire was intentional or accidental. According to The Baltimore Sun, Hines had been having financial problems and had been living without electricity for five months.

Friday, Jan. 6

6:50 p.m. Doral Hinton, a 27-year-old African-American man, went to a store in the 800 block of North Montford Avenue in East Baltimore. When he left the store he encountered someone who shot him several times. Hinton was taken to an area hospital, where he died at 7:48 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 8

3:46 a.m. Raymonn Parrott, a 34-year-old African-American man from Richmond, Va., was in Baltimore visiting family. He was inside a home in the 4100 block of Mariban Court in Brooklyn when one or more people opened fire on the home. Parrott was shot in the head and died at 4:26 a.m. at a local hospital.
