Holiday Craft Ornament Workshop & Film Screening. Create ornaments and cards to celebrate Christmas and Kwanzaa and view the film A Ripple in Time, by local young filmmakers. 11 a.m. Dec. 7, Reginald F. Kwanzaa Celebration. Participate in “Drum Talk” with Sankofa Dance Theater drummers and beat-box artist Shodekeh and enjoy a workshop on Kwanzaa principles with Culture Kingdom Kids. Dr. Maulana Karenga, founder of Kwanzaa, joins. Dec. 28, noon-4 p.m., Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture, 830 E. Kwanzaa with Maria Broom and Sankofa Dance Theater. Storyteller Maria Broom and drum talker Jali D share African traditions, which are followed by a performace of traditional dance by Sankofa Dance Theater. World Holiday Traditions. Events will include live holiday music performed by Quintaero and Arioso, Kwanzaa and Chanukah displays, arts and crafts, a Nativity exhibit, interactive performances with Joe Duffey and the Irish Teelin Dance Company, holiday carols with Maryland Sings, and of course photo opportuities with Santa.
