The Fukushima disaster raised the nuclear industry’s profile in the classic way, but the industry had been promoting itself more prominently as “safe, green energy” not only to the public but to key legislators. In fact, as these figures from the Center for Responsive Politics show, Baltimore’s own Constellation Energy had the largest increase in lobbying outlays.
