Emily Flake is a cartoonist, writer, and illustrator. She lives in Brooklyn with a cat, who has orange fur, and a husband, whose fur is black and grey. Her illustrations and cartoons appear in many publications, but the New Yorker is the only ones her parents have heard of. She grew up in Manchester, CT, a town which features a statue of two bears clinging to each other in a terrifying dance of grief. She will make you a pie.
