Christmas Village

Santa and his new trophy wife (Mrs. Claus was such a prude) stop off at the new Christmas Village at West Shore Park, modeled on a German market, on the way to deliver sleigh-loads of coal to Harbor Point and City Hall.

No matter which holiday you celebrate, this much is certain: There will be stress. Crossing all the names off your shopping list. Making sure the party you’re hosting goes off without a hitch. Spending time with the relatives you can only stand to spend time with once a year (and with good reason). What we’re offering with this here holiday guide is a chance to stop and actually enjoy yourself with all sorts of shows, plays, concerts, events to shut junior up, and then some. And there are even events that let you shop, party, or make time with your relatives more tolerable, so win-win!

Of course, the holidays are about longstanding traditions, those certain things that make the season complete, like the lights on 34th Street in Hampden or the lighting of the Washington Monument in Mount Vernon. There are also plenty of things unique to 2013 that we’re pretty psyched about: a new Christmas Village in the Inner Harbor modeled after a German market, the Baltimore Improv Group’s post-holiday extravaganza with cartoonist KAL, or the chance to spend New Year’s Eve with Jeezy. And so much more than that! It’s our gift to you. No returns! It’s free!

The Holiday Events Guide was edited by Brandon Weigel and compiled by City Paper interns Melaika Campbell, Megan Byrne, Chelsea Duff, H. Dean Freeman, Rebekah Kirkman, Sarah LaCorte, Sarah Nielsen, Patrick Pilkey, Kevin West, and Lauren Yeh.
