1 NAACP

On the heels of the Baltimore-headquartered organization’s ground-shifting push for marriage equality in Maryland, the NAACP has announced a major effort to repeal the death penalty in the state—its biggest financial commitment ever. Maybe they should try to fix the sinkholes next.

2 @BaltoSpectator

The independent journalist, who has turned out sharp insights and solid reporting over the years, becomes the story, sending out a series of threatening tweets before live broadcasting a standoff with police, who were trying to serve a warrant for a probation violation. He’s a spectator no more.

3 Formstone

A proposed update to the city’s zoning code would ban the vomit-gray fake-stone exterior seen on homes all over town for use in any new construction. OK, so it’s tacky and outdated—you live in Baltimore, remember?

BCPR thinks this is just the beginning.

5 Morgan State

First the athletic department accidentally emails the football coach about their plans to replace him, then things get serious as a football player is injured in a shooting—the second this semester—outside a dormitory at 1 P.M. Bears need to tackle crime on campus.
