2012 Association of Alternative Newsweeklies Winners

Congratulations to Staff Writer Edward Ericson Jr. and Design Director Joe MacLeod

Editor’s notes: The winners of the 2012 Association of Alternative Newsweeklies Awards have been announced, and City Paper won in two categories among member alt-weeklies with circulations larger than 50,000:

Staff Writer Edward Ericson Jr.’s piece, “Hardly Working” (Feature, June 1, 2011) won first place in the Special Topic: Economic Inequality category.

And Design Director Joe MacLeod won third place in the Cover Design category for a collection of three covers: “Drawing a Line” (Nov .16, 2011), “Fiction and Poetry Contest Winners” (Dec. 7, 2011), and “People Who Died” (Dec. 28, 2011).

Congratulations, Joe and Ed!

In late May we bid goodbye to Music Editor Michael Byrne. After five years at CP, Michael is headed to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in the fall to study physics. We wish him all the best.
