The Windup Space gets all Lynchian with Black Lodge Karaoke. Resurgent rock-radio dark horses Switchfoot plays Rams Head Live.

THURSDAY: Lo-fi pioneer R. Stevie Moore headlines the Golden West with Horse Lords and Spitting Images. The North Mississippi Allstars get the blues at the Recher Theatre. Dramatic, experimental Philadelphia band Grip Of The Gods hit the Sidebar with Blood Horses.

FRIDAY: Claire Boucher aka Grimes plays the Coward Shoe Building. Guggenheim fellow and Grammy nominee Fred Hersch performs with his eponymous trio at An die Musik. Christian rocker Mac Powell headlines the Recher Theatre. Skillful Washington instrumental quartet BearShark plays the Windup Space with locals Sal Bando and Idle Gossip. Seattle-based soul singer Allen Stone belts it out at Baltimore Soundstage. DJ Rod Lee spins at 7122 Sports Bar and Lounge. Country rockers the Honest Mistakes play upstairs at Dionysus. The Ottobar’s New Wave Dance Party Battle pits the Cure, Depeche Mode, New Order, and Duran Duran against each other. The reunited Afghan Whigs play for a sold-out crowd at the 9:30 Club in Washington. Don’t miss: The Creative Alliance at the Patterson hosts singer/songwriter/accordionist Anne Watts and her eight-piece all-star backing band, Boister.

SATURDAY: If you’re still looking for more accordion, the Dave Janesh Trio is at An die Musik. BlocktoberFest, outside 1st Mariner Arena, features over a dozen bands including Mr. Greengenes and Stroke 9. Powerman 5000 demonstrates that you can milk a very long career out of being related to Rob Zombie at Baltimore Soundstage. The Creative Alliance at the Patterson celebrates Woody Guthrie’s 100th birthday with Caleb Stine, Arty Hill, and more. The Browning provides the fusion of deathcore and electronica you never knew you wanted at the Recher Theatre. Pink Floyd tribute band Several Species shoot an inflatable pig into the air at Pier Six Pavilion. Ohio thrash-metal band Skeletonwitch bangs heads at the Ottobar with Havok and Early Graves. Don’t miss: Baltimore jazz institution Lafayette Gilchrist with the New Volcanos play at the Windup Space.

SUNDAY: Come to Baltimore Soundstage early in the afternoon to share a “Sunday Gospel Brunch” with the Gospel Persuaders. David Gray sings while wobbling his head in that funny way he does at the Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric. The Roots Café, hosted by City Paper contributor Geoffrey Himes, welcomes Bob Kannenberg (of the Barn Burners) and Jay Filippone (of The Beltways) to An die Musik. Gotye sings the nine-times platinum single “Somebody That I Used To Know” and presumably some other songs at Merriweather Post Pavilion.

MONDAY: 98 Rock’s Noise In The Basement brings local bands to Baltimore Soundstage.

TUESDAY: One-man band Bob Log III hits the Golden West with Hard Dads and Cheap Time. Animal Collective might play some songs from their 2009 album whose name I can’t remember at Merriweather Post Pavilion. 3OH!3 raises douchebaggery to its own genre of music at Rams Head Live. The charming Regina Spektor headlines at the Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric. The Out of Your Head collective’s lineup at the Windup Space consists of Zach Swanson, Mike Kuhl, Chris Pumphrey, and Jon Lipscomb. The Sidebar hosts the scariest bill of the week, with Impaler, Necropsy, and Forced Asphyxiation. Don’t miss: Baltimore punk saviors Roomrunner plays the Ottobar with Big Business and House of Lightning.

WEDNESDAY: Godspeed You! Black Emperor gets all apocalyptic and Canadian at Rams Head Live. Annapolis indie rockers Rudder North plays Joe Squared Inner Harbor. The Baltimore Boom Bap Society works the kick and the snare at the Windup Space. New York’s Tom Blacklung and the Smokestacks play the Charm City Art Space with Hive Bent. Don’t miss: Local Americana supergroup Television Hill opens for Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs at the Metro Gallery.
