WEDNESDAY: Don’t miss: Psych throwback Amen Dunes perform at the Golden West Cafe with Mountains and Vlonde.

THURSDAY: Islands put indie-rock in amber at the Metro Gallery with Idiot Glee and the Dialogue. Washington D.C. ska-punk band Kill Lincoln plays a tour kickoff show at the Sidebar with Trashkhanistan, Disastrous Consequences, and more. Roots/bluegrass band Cabinet plays the 8X10 with Andy Belt and Friends. Pianist Amina Figarova performs pan-ethnic jazz at An die Musik with her sextet. The Crystal Method heads up a new edition of the Bassdrop at Baltimore Soundstage. The Manly Deeds make their monthly old-time outing at Joe Squared Station North. With guest violinist Madeline Adkins, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra does a program centered around Fantasy on Bizet’s Carmen at the Meyerhoff. Baltimore bluegrass finery the Satyr Hill Band plays Baldwin’s Station in Sykesville. Don’t miss: DDm, the exceedingly vital Baltimore MC formerly known as Midas, performs at the Ottobar with White Life and Dope Body; upstairs, the techno-plus dance-plus party Kowli Nights returns.

FRIDAY: Antonio Harper and James Nasty’s Physical Education dance party weekly makes the Ottobar go thump. Attack! Attack! does that thing with the crabbing at Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club. Mr. Greengenes, Burnt Sienna, Liquid A, 3AM, and Engine #9 deliver “Back to the Beach” to Rams Head Live, for those way mad stoked to hit Dewey Beach this summer. Strength for a Reason is the hardcore band you’d expect at the Sidebar with Animal Haus, Brick, Copstabber, and more. Vocalist/flutist Rhonda Robinson does Brazilian and Latin jazz at the fourth edition of An die Musik’s Hot Winter Nights series. The Stoney Run String Band does bluegrass at Joe Squared Station North. Way old-school Washington, D.C. barroom blues band the Nighthawks play the Creative Alliance with Phil Wiggins and Eleanor Ellis. Don’t miss: Terrestrial Mass, another solid band involving Whoarfrost guitarist Jon Lipscomb, makes anti-gravity dub-punk at the Windup Space with Shining Mirrors, the Flying Eyes, and Dead Whale Ramblers. Dave P and Sammy Slice, of Making Time fame, guest at a TaxLo party at the Golden West with regulars Simon Phoenix and Stereofaith.

SATURDAY: Baltimore house music heavyweights Teddy Douglas, Spen, and Karizma keep Paradox true-school for a new seasonal party called Respekt, with DJs Exclaime and Fleg of Four Hours of Funk and Booda Monk. The Ottobar goes all-party with another of those Prince vs. Michael Jackson vs. Madonna all-pleasers downstairs, and the A.D. party bringing industrial darkness to the upstairs bar courtesy DJs Dr Fleshchopper and Inkfairie. Us, From Outside “have exactly the right mix of melody and aggression you need to get through a Friday” at the Talking Head, so there. Brake Fast Records, one of the owningest rap labels in town, puts on the Speaker Boxin’ MC battle in Sonar’s main room with Cannibal Ox’s Vast Aire guesting; on the main stage, the massive hippy/raver party Manifest takes over with Archaic Revival, Minnesota, and Sugarpill. Baltimore rock outfit Goodbye New Plans celebrates a record release at the Metro Gallery with Lush Farm, the New Media, and the Diplomas. Dub Nation DC moves over to the 9:30 Club with Smash Gordon, Bare, and Hulk. Several Species brings “the Pink Floyd Experience” to Rams Head Live. Ryan Montbleau, a singer/songwriter with an impressive cast of New Orleans collaborators, including Anders Osborne and Ivan Neville, plays the 8X10. Classical pianist and great-name-haver Joon Yoon delivers a free show at An die Musik. The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra does Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5 at the Meyerhoff. Technicolor Motor Home pays tribute to Steely Dan at Towson’s Recher Theatre. Big in Japan, with Celebration’s Katrina Ford guesting, do two sets for the Creative Alliance’s yearly resident’s open house. Don’t miss: Dice Raw of the Legendary Roots Crew and Wendel Patrick head up a benefit for the quite worthy Civic Frame non-profit at the Windup Space.

SUNDAY: Buckwheat Zydeco brings his legendary celebration of said New Orleans party genre to Rams Head Tavern. Ethnic Heritage Ensemble delivers its eighth annual Black History Month show at An die Musik. Psych-rock outfit the Pilgrim does its second show this week at the Windup Space, this time with Tonie Joy’s band Slow Bull and Baltimore country big name Caleb Stine. New Jersey straight-edge hardcore band Outlast tears into Charm City Art Space with Good Times, Restless, and Hard Feelings. Estelle fronts the BET Music Matters Tour at Baltimore Soundstage with Stacy Barthe, Elle Varner, and Luke James.
