Every Tuesday evening the Out of Your Head Music collective, the best of Baltimore’s musical improvisation, takes the stage at the Windup Space in Station North. Head there Oct. 30 as Kyle Vinton and Erik Spangler take turns with electronics tracks. It’s not strictly jazz, although jazz pianist Lafayette Gilchrist is known to frequent OOYH performances. Bonus: no cover charge.

It’s a Saturday night show not to be missed as bass clarinetist Todd Marcus and his quartet play a show Nov. 3 celebrating the release of their new CD, Inheritance. Marcus plays at Jazzway 6004, on Hollins Avenue, the home of Marianne Matheny-Katz, a jazz vocalist. Tickets are $38 and include soft drinks and a dessert buffet. For the film buffs out there—this is also a chance to catch a peek of a Baltimore jazz documentary currently filming.

On Nov. 4, head back to the Windup Space to see the duo Ab Baars and Ig Henneman perform. Baars, a tenor saxophonist, and Henneman, on viola, come to Baltimore from the Netherlands, where both are influential members of that country’s jazz and new music scene. The show starts at 8 P.M. and tickets are $15.

A quintet of Jazzers, including Kris Funn on bass and Warren Wolf on drums, will perform a tribute to Abbey Lincoln at An die Musik on Nov. 4. Lincoln, whose real name was Anna Marie Wooldridge, was an innovator as a jazz vocalist for composing and singing her own songs. Her husband was legendary bebop drummer Max Roach. Two showings of the Abbey Lincoln tribute are at An die Musik; tickets to both the 5 P.M. and 6:30 P.M. Shows are $13.
