Co-ed feminist-hardcore band War On Women headlines Charm City Art Space’s Rally for Marriage Equality in Maryland on Nov. 2 with Adults and Widow’s Watch. As of last week, A389 Records has its entire discography up on Bandcamp, available for free streaming, entering the ranks of many awesome local outfits with open catalogs, including at least Ehse Records and, for the most part, Friends Records, along with pretty much everything Baltimore Club and hip-hop. In other A389 news, the crucial Baltimore label has already announced the lineup for its ninth anniversary bash—which has become a sort of mini-Deathfest—on Jan. 18-19, and it doesn’t disappoint. First off, it’s at the Ottobar this year, and names include Integrity, the reunions of ’90s beast Left for Dead and hardcore terror Catharsis, along with Gehenna, Despise You, Ilsa, Weekend Nachos, Old Lines, and much more. In the precise opposite of everything above, MXPX is playing the Ottobar Nov. 1 with Unwritten Law. Two weeks later, Torche purifies said venue on Nov. 14. Sick Weapons, one of Baltimore punk’s brightest lights of recent years, cut down at their prime, reunite at the Metro Gallery Nov. 9 and 10, with Purling Hiss, Grass Widow, Slow Jerks, and Double Dagger frontman Nolen Strals’ new band—with horror film auteur Chris LaMartina and Dirt Farm proprietor Ben Classon—Pure Junk. Baltimore/D.C. straight-edge hardcore heavy Mindset has a new record out on React well worth the shattering of your eardrums. Highly awesome/vital queercore/folk-punk band Des Ark plays the Bell Foundry Oct. 20 with Edhochuli, the New Trust, and Big Mouth.
