A step above with flavorful sandwichs and wraps

Lunch at Lauraville’s Red Canoe can almost be considered doubly cheap, as sandwiches come so packed that half will satiate many appetites, especially considering the free bag of Utz potato chips that comes with. A turkey ranch sandwich on wheat ($6.95), layered with oven-roasted turkey, provolone, bacon, tomato, and fresh greens, satisfied with a solid meat/greens/bread ratio, and not so much dressing or tomato that the bread was soggy, though the provolone got a little lost in the mix. And the apple turkey wrap ($6.95) was similarly satisfying, going a step above with a flavorful, not-too-spicy, house-made apple chutney and no shortage of fresh greens. We threw in a rich brown muffin ($3.25) filled with bits of sweet plum and washed it all down with sparkling San Pellegrino. We only wished we could have stayed to savor the cute, cozy bookstore atmosphere and chat with the friendly staff and patrons.
