Just opened on Charles Street (with another location on lower Light Street), Home Slyce has the dark-wood/industrial/exposed-brick look and feel of a trendy bar. It also has a full bar, nicely backlit, a short pool table (blue felt), and the appropriate low-level chillin’ music. Owned by the same people as the Cazbar, a few doors down, Home Slyce is still getting its sea legs in the service department. But we can recommend the three pig and cheese sandwich, a pepperoni-salami-prosciutto combo panini with just the right mix of salty-savory and cheesy goodness ($5 special, eat-in only on Thursdays; $9.45 out the door, with fries and a tiny salad). Much less wet and sloppy than a typical hot sub, this baby just snaps with flavor. The “yum-yum” dipping sauce doesn’t hurt it a bit. Fries are good too, and the lettuce next to it was drizzled with Italian dressing.
