Do not urinate on wall $500 fine—that’s not merely excellent legal advice emblazoned on the side of 413 W. Saratoga St.; it’s a courtly request for the most basic civility. Nobody should be micturating on an establishment that serves Jamaican cuisine this incredibly tasty and affordable. This homey, welcoming carryout joint serves the familiar items—jerk chicken, curried vegetables, etc.—but the distinguished taste here is something special. A medium order of curry goat ($8) delivers a nice-sized scoop of cabbage, cooked with carrots and peppers and boasting a not-shy but not-crippling heat index, and a modest heap of rice and beans covered with a considerable portion of succulent, fall-off-the-bone goat meat. Rich, smoky, and, like the cabbage, cooked with enough spice to bring out the meat’s flavor but not dominate it. Best of all, though, are the beef and chicken patties ($2 each): piquantly spiced filling wrapped in a pastry that’s moist and flaky enough to encase an apple pie. So, good sirs, whip it out someplace else. Please.
