It’s the week before Xmas and throughout Baltimore

Holiday drinkers may ponder, What beers are in store?

In a city with so many bar choices within it,

Which ones are my best bet for that holiday spirit?

Golden West slings such grog without fail;

Served cold on draft: Blue Point Winter Ale.

It boasts a certain fruity, sweet-tart flavor—

A fine choice for a cold evening, we wager.

In bottle form, try the Session Fest

For smooth and filling, it tops all the rest.

In Mount Vernon, there’s more wint’ry libation to be had;

Dionysus has two beers that are, you know, not too bad.

Troegs Mad Elf teases with hints of chocolate, cherry, and honey,

With a good head on top, there are worse ways to spend money.

Sadly, we found Sierra Nevada’s Celebration Ale

Merely passable, watery and bland, an IPA fail.

But what to your wandering, bloodshot eyes should appear?

At Brewer’s Art reigns St. Festivus, king of yuletide beer!

Brimming with ginger, burnt caramel, and some orange peel,

This holiday ale is perfectly complex, we feel.

At 8 percent, the alcohol content is robust,

And for only $5.50, your budget it won’t bust.

As you taste for yourself these seasonal suds,

Drink in good spirit and disregard all the duds.

Buy your friends a round, fill up someone else’s cup:

Wish him happy holidays and try not to throw up.

Blue Point Winter Ale: $6.25; Session Fest: $3.75; Troeg’s Mad Elf: $6; Sierra Nevada Celebration: $5; Brewer’s Art St. Festivus: $5.50.
