Hands down, the best place to see the art of breakin’ in Baltimore is the monthly dance party 4 Hours of Funk. Since its inception three years ago, Funk, the creation of Charles Village residents DJ Exclaime (Graham Hatke) and DJ Fleg (Stephen Fleg), has ballooned to become one of the city’s must-attend parties. But get there early, as its home base at the Windup Space fills rather rapidly with fans of old school disco, funk, and vinyl hip-hop. At about midnight, the dance floor divides between the public and a dedicated circle of breakdancers whose moves will make ya body rock. Best of all, it’s usually free till 11 P.M.
