Towson Tigers Basketball

The Towson Tigers are so bad at basketball that it’s actually quite impressive. Out of the 344 college basketball teams in the NCAA’s Division 1, the Tigers are pretty clearly the worst: they set a new league record by losing 41 consecutive games; they didn’t win once in the entire year of 2011. But there’s something almost epic about losing with such persistence and vigor. Furthermore, no other team can boast about losing in front of both Bill Murray and President Obama on the same night. (Murray’s son is the team’s assistant coach; Obama was cheering on his brother-in-law, the coach for Oregon State, who—suprise!—beat the Tigers soundly.) Alas, thanks to a new stadium and some promising first-year recruits, things are looking up for the Tigers this year. To be honest, we’re a little disappointed.
