Baltimore Living

Best Small Park

Duncan Street Park

City Paper first recognized this teeny oasis a dozen years ago as a Best of Baltimore, but recent transplants, passersby, and even some from neighboring ’hoods still ask, “When did this happen?” and “Is this new?” It’s remained so tidy and well-kept all this time. This is due, no doubt, to the watchful eyes of neighbors in tight-knit Butcher’s Hill and the eponymous neighborhood association. Filled with lush but trimmed vegetation, immaculate benches, and a chess table, the park is located on a particularly fetching stretch of Duncan Street—which is really an alley in a neighborhood pretty much defined by its alleys—between Pratt and Lombard. Check it out, but you best leave it just like you found it. Just sayin’.
