There are a bunch of Latin markets to be found between Harbor East and Greektown, but most are a bit . . . quaint. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, of course, but in terms of a market, bright, clean environs denote fresher product, which tends to score points with us. And the city’s Cinco de Mayo locations are distinguished by exactly that, not to mention their huge selection of produce, dry and baked goods, and prepared foods. Did we mention that you can have a sit-down meal inside as well? They are also well staffed, which means you never have to hunt for somebody to ring you up, though the flip side is they may be too busy to engage in the old “point/what’s that?” pas de deux.
