Best Goodwill for Name Brands

Goodwill Boutique

1 N. Poppleton St., goodwillches.org, (410) 244-6210

There’s nothing better than that designer-label score at the thrift store, but those thrills are few and far between nowdays, what with that damn eBay and places like Goodwill culling their inventory for the quality, but the upside is there are smaller Goodwill locations presenting more focused offerings, and a recent visit to the Poppleton Street Goodwill (the entrance and good parking is on West Baltimore Street) turned up the following names and labels for bargain schmattes for the ladies and gents, presented here in order of discovery: Hilfiger, Claiborn, London Fog, Evan Picone for Lord & Taylor, Yves Saint Laurent, Geoffrey Beene, J. Crew, Alfani, Sears (a killer men’s vintage polyester two-piece “action suit”), Calvin Klein (a men’s shirt that easily went for over a hundred retail: $4.95—score!), Ann Taylor, Jones of New York, Libertine at Target (cute whales-and-skulls pattern skirt), Burberry (handbag), Pendleton, North Face, Columbia, Polo, Lacoste, Boss for Men, Thomas Pink London (super-high threadcount cotton men’s shirt), Perry Ellis, and of course lots of Jos. A. Bank suits and London Fog trenches. The prices here are fair, the shop is tidy, and the stock is well-organized, so you should make this part of your regular thrift circuit. Happy hunting.
