There are three camps when it comes to buying kiddie clothes. Buy cheap because kids grow fast and wear clothes hard. Buy high quality because kids are hard on clothes and you need togs that will stand up to a daily beating. Or, buy cute and trendy, because, admit it, parents want to impress each other. You can have it all here. Tried but True is a consignment shop with kids’ clothes, shoes, and toys (plus some maternity items) packed into a little yellow house. But beware: Racks are tight and clearance is slim. Make your life easier and leave the kids at home—all the better to peruse the big selection of used brand-name clothes in great condition. On our last visit, the place was stocked up for fall and winter. We walked out with a huge bag of cute cardigans and corduroys for baby, and flannel, coats, and boots for big brothers and sisters.
