Pumpkin Bars at Eddie’s of Roland Park

5113 Roland Ave., eddiesofrolandpark.com, (410) 323-1201 and 6213 N. Charles St., (410) 377-8040

Fall means all things pumpkin—muffins, ice cream, somehow coffee—but both Eddie’s of Roland Park do pumpkin right with their excellent and rightfully much-anticipated pumpkin bars. We thought we were the only ones who nerdily looked forward to these things every year, bugging the bakery associates every week or so, trying to find out when they were going on sale, but apparently pumpkin bars have a pretty sizable following, if said bakery personnel are to be believed. Not too sweet and, most importantly, not overly tarted-up with baking spices like so many pumpkin-labelled products are, Eddie’s bars actually taste pumpkiny. And the rectangular shape facilitates the consumption of many without the guilt of eating an entire pie’s worth, even though the actual volumes may be comparable.
