Northeast Market isn’t really in the north—it’s by Johns Hopkins Hospital—and it is one of the more run-down city markets (which is saying something), but it has some real gems tucked inside. One is JAWA Market, an exceptional sandwich shop with creative, expertly-made sandwiches and one of the nicest staffs around. Our go-to at Jawa is the tropical shrimp salad sandwich, which is full of large whole shrimp, mango, green peppers, celery, onion, and a tangy sauce that creates the perfect mixture of sweet and savory. It’s fresh and delicious and a step above the other shrimp salad sandwiches we’ve tried.
