Granted there are some appetites that are larger than others, and we personally know a few people that will not stop eating until the food runs out, but Mezze in Fells Point upended our expectations for a tapas restaurant. Feasting on small plates can be an exercise in feeling full on richness and garlic rather than substance, but Mezze is different. Maybe it was the tasty red sangria or the conversation, but by the end of a meal heavy on veggies and fish and dip, we were surprised at the reasonable bill. We enjoyed crunchy falafel and creamy baba ghanouj, cheese pie in phyllo, herby lima beans, fried calamari, shark fritter bites, salmon with sesame barbecue sauce and cooling tzatziki, and grilled asparagus. We left tipsy from the wine, not thirsty from the seasonings, and with enough money to justify the valet parking we did out of desperation.
