Best Place to Eat Once a Decade: Lost City Diner

1730 N. Charles St., (410) 547-5678

If you think waiting to get a table at the Hollywood Diner took a long time, get comfortable. Club Charles owner Joy Martin bought the nearby property in 2000, and locals anxiously waited to see what she would do with it . . . for 11 years. Lost City Diner opened in August 2011 with a Tomorrowland retro-futuristic look and a menu of vegetarian- and vegan-friendly dishes including shakes and sundaes. It had immediate appeal and Lost City Diner easily became a go-to for pre-movie dining. Then, as if we’d only imagined it’s approximately five months of operation, the diner closed in early 2012 for what Martin told The Sun was “an intermission” while she did some renovations and got a sign. But with the intermission closing in on a year, we’re just gonna assume she needs another decade to make things right. Call now and make a reservation for 2021!
