Lots of Baltimore bakeries make peach cake during the summer months, and opinions run deep about sliced fruit versus chunks, square slab versus round, glaze or no glaze. We like Hoehn’s for its not too sweet yeast dough, the rosy ripe local peaches carved into quarters, and the light brush of glaze that adds moistness and a bit of gloss to the finished cake. Owner Sharon Hooper and her family have been making their peach cake for generations. You can’t go wrong with this slab.
