East Baltimore isn’t known for much of anything besides crime, poverty, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. That’s a shame, because there are some gems on the East Side, including Hot Mustard, a great Korean carry-out a short walk from the hospital. Hot Mustard offers great lunch specials and affordable prices. Our personal favorite is the bibimbap, offered with your choice of sauces—we go for the traditional sriracha. The generous helping of rice with pickled vegetables, egg, and your choice of meat (or even tofu) is the perfect midday pick-me-up, and the counter staff couldn’t be friendlier. It’s a reason to go east.
