There are no toys, nothing resembling a play area, and no kiddie menus served with crayons. What the New York-based pizza joint near MICA and the University of Baltimore does have, though, is an atmosphere so lighthearted, bright, and folksy it could almost be the set of a kids’ show. The mismatched thrift-store tables and chairs make us feel at home. And the clamorous room, where a dropped fork reverberates along with conversation and kitchen noise, is hardly dented by a couple of boisterous kids. But the reason we love it: Pizza Face. The pizza face is, you might have guessed, a kid-sized pizza with veggies arranged on a cheese pie in the shape of a face. Pizza. Veggies. Silly face. No-brainer.
