Miss Shirley’s sweet potato fries

513 W. Cold Spring Lane, 750 E. Pratt St., missshirleys.com, (410) 528-5373

A meal at Miss Shirley’s never disappoints. The restaurant boasts a Food Network Magazine award, but the menu item that leaves you with a hankering for a prompt return trip is a humble appetizer: the cone of sweet potato fries. Each bright orange fry is pleasantly crispy on the exterior, giving way to a surprisingly warm and soft inner consistency that seems to melt in your mouth. Accompanied by a duo of tangy dipping sauces—a mango ketchup and a citrus aioli—these fries are loaded with flavor and make a great snack on their own or as an addition to any of the cafe’s main courses.
