Remember when Baltimore neighborhoods had a bakery on every corner? Well, Hoehn’s is still on that corner (Bank and Conkling) and is still turning out the best old school pastries favored by Baltimoreans: slabs of slightly tart smearcase cake dusted with cinnamon, white-iced jelly tarts, glossy peach cake, and voluptuous, overstuffed marshmallow doughnuts that taste like a nosh on a sweet cloud. Guilty pleasures all, but well worth the calories. And yes, you want a marshmallow doughnut right now.
