There are a lot of reasons to like WJZ’s Kai Jackson. For one, he’s not hard on the eyes and has a fashion sense that steers mercifully clear of the sartorial indiscretions that have ruined many a screen test. Then there’s his geniality and humility. His laughter is never canned and his smile never forced, even as he offers on-the-street reporting, the type of work other anchors gratefully gave up several rungs down the ladder. We could go on, but what truly sets Jackson apart is his mastery of time itself. After 18 years covering this hardscrabble city, Jackson has not aged a day. While HDTV and the 24-hour news cycle have brutalized the paint jobs and waistlines of his colleagues, Jackson just beams without so much as a laugh line. He will surely outlive us all.
