Baltimore Living
Best Neighborhood
Lauraville
Published: September 19, 2012
If you like hip city living but hate all the damn people and traffic, Lauraville may be your salvation. The northeast neighborhood that straddles Harford Road is home to art galleries, children’s bookstores, a Tuesday afternoon farmers’ market, and, most notably, Baltimore’s own Zeke’s Coffee. Herring Run Park, Lake Montebello, and several other small neighborhood parks are also all within walking distance, making outings like nature hikes possible for those even without a mode of transportation. It also has lots of affordable housing—only a fraction of what one would find in neighborhoods around town with a similar vibe—plus low crime rates and charming front-and-back porches on almost all the houses, to boot.
