Guest Spot had an excellent year of exhibitions in its first home in Fells Point. Hosting eight memorable shows featuring a mix of local and regional artists, the gallery has a sharp focus on themes of impermanence and liminality. Baltimore transplant Rod Malin has worked hard to highlight and work with the local artist community, and create a unique venue for their work. Guest curators, including artists Skye Gilkerson and Lou Joseph, have added their voices to the mix to create a refreshingly thoughtful program, giving a fresh context to academic, ephemeral, and sometimes straight-laced work. Over the summer, they finally moved into a space large enough to match their ambitions.
