This past year, the Shakespeare Factory embarked (heh) on a collaboration with the Baltimore Humane Society to bring adoptable animals on stage, placing them in supporting roles in Shakespearean classics like Macbeth and Love’s Labour’s Lost. Not only did the dogs and cats get a break from the shelter for an evening in the spotlight, they also got the chance to meet potential owners. The Shakespeare Factory’s own artistic director Tom Delise fell under the spell of one of the dogs, adopting her into his family and naming her Hermione, after one of the characters from Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale.
