Best theater Director

Vincent Lancisi is that rarity in the arts world: someone who excels at both art and the business of making art. As the artistic director of Everyman Theatre, he has guided the company from very humble beginnings to its current state as the best theater in Maryland. But whenever Lancisi steps out of his office and into the rehearsal space to direct a new production, he still has the knack for getting his actors to inhabit their roles with remarkable vividness. There’s no better example of this than last winter’s smart, subtle production of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, in which Lancisi and his fine cast suggested that it’s no simple matter to bring out a family’s hidden truth, for it can do as much damage as healing.
