What makes a neighborhood bar is the neighborhood that not just keeps it alive but enlivens it with local characters and local flavor along with infusing it with a general feeling of comfort. The Dizz has had a name change and two unsuccessful offshoots, but like a fighter with heart, it refuses to go down for the count. Always sporting strings of seasonal lights, a hand-written specials menu featuring the night’s versions of the yummy hamburgers and platters of home cooking, sports on the flat screens, and friendly bartenders, the Dizz has room for the natives and younger transplants who take advantage of the neighborhood’s vicinity to Charles Village and Hampden, kids from Hopkins, hipsters taking a break from Rocket, and us, early Dizz adopters stopping by to see Elaine. The motto is “Baltimore in a bar” and we only wish Baltimore had a little more Dizz in it.
