Neighborhood bar karaoke with awesome and awesomely trashed locals is one of our favorite pastimes. But there’s really something about squiggling around on your back wailing probably something by Nirvana while seven or eight friends lounge on couches getting loaded on soju that sets it apart. That scene, taking place most certainly between last call and dawn, is the essence of private-room karaoke at Rainbow. You get a room with a wicked sound system and karaoke machine, some nice couches, and some soundproofing, and add booze. It costs money, yeah—this place has gotta be making a killing—but get a bunch of people to split it and you’re gold.
