Opened by supply-side apologists (or satirists) Marc and Bill McFaul in 1995, this GOP-themed Fed Hill haunt is finally getting its due for the liberal prices it trickles down during happy hour. The week kicks off with $2 Nathan’s hot dogs on Sundays, half-price burgers and fries on Mondays, and 35 cent wings on Tuesdays. Daily drink specials include $2 domestics and pints and $2.50 rail drinks, a double billing we can all get behind. Things really pick up on Tuesdays with $2 Blue Moons followed by twofer Yuenglings on Wednesdays and $1.50 Amstel Lights on Thursdays, all in addition to the usual deals. What sets Ropewalk apart is ample seating, a pool table with plenty of elbow room, and an atmosphere that is actually conducive to conversation. Stopping in at Ropewalk for a few is damn-near mandatory for loosening up after the daily grind.
