Best Bar Snack

Sunflower crackers at Pazo

1425 Aliceanna St., (410) 534-7296, pazorestaurant.com

So we all know that the sole purpose of any kind of free bar snack is to biologically goad you into drinking more booze. Salty, crumbly, dry things in your mouth will make you want to ingest liquid, hopefully of the alcoholic type. Because why would any place give you something for free if it’s not going to get it back double some other way right? Well, then Pazo defies logical explanation, because its free bar snacks are neither salty nor dry and are, in fact, fucking delicious. They’re these savory-sweet rectangles with a truly unique texture, somewhere between a cookie and a cracker, fine-crumbed, delicate but satisfying, and topped with a perfect pavement of sunflower seeds. You could easily put them on the menu and charge for them. Granted they’re usually not just sitting out on the bar like so many worthless-ass pretzels, but if you’re nice to the bartenders, they’ll hook you up, and if you’re extra nice, they might even send you home with some. Believe us, you want this to happen.
